Oh, hi! Glad you could find the place...
Just a quick reminder, since I've had a few people ask me. If you are interested in raiding with us, there are a few rules and guidelines. There are a few other things that have been unspoken for the most part, and I want to clear up for everyone, since we have some new people joining us.
Let me be clear on what I think of for the term 'casual raiding®.' This means that we aren't going to remove a member if they go on vacation (thank God), or miss a raid here and there for real life. It doesn't mean that it is ok to show up without gear that is appropriate for your role. It means, at least to me, that you may not be there for every raid that we have scheduled.
It doesn't mean that it is OK to ignore basic preparation for raiding. To be clear, being gemmed, enchanted, and knowing the fights is the bare minimum of being prepared. I would still expect anyone that I played with to show up to an event ready to play for the entire time, or to let me know in advance. While they are there, I expect them to give their attention to the game, and to respect the time and effort of the other raiders that they are with. If you are not, THAT is what I would find disrespectful. If we ask you to be prepared, and you refuse, don't be suprised if you are not invited to come raid.
I want to include everyone. Absolutely everyone. However, we need to ensure that we are putting the best grouping forward for the content that we are attempting. We have members that are not adequately geared for Heroics. We also have members that need some additional experience in order to be successful. Bringing them in may make the difference between a successful boss kill, and an unsuccessful kill; most especially in 10-man. When we have the opportunity to back gear them through the existing content to get the experience and gear they need to be successful and then ease them into Heroic raids, it would be irresponsible of us to not do so, ESPECIALLY now that we can offer members Valor (and some gear upgrades). This isn't elitist. This is being a realist. We have to improve not just with gear, but in ability. I want every member in our guild that has even an inkling to raid to have an opportunty to do so, and to enjoy it.
